There is welcome news for producers and processors around the world and in Mexico who want full access to the rapidly growing organic market in Mexico: QAI now offers certification to Mexico's Organic Products Law (LPO).

To keep up with growing consumer demand, organic food production and processing have been growing rapidly in Mexico, averaging 20 percent per year for the past 10 years according to statistics compiled by the Mexican government. For example, 128,000 Mexican producers have already entered the organic supply chain to Mexican consumers.

QAI recently expanded support for its Mexican clients by adding staff at its Mexico office and developing a robust system for offering LPO certification. An agriculture arm of the Mexican government (SENASICA) thoroughly assessed the QAI Mexico office--both its people and its systems. On June 28th, 2017 SENASICA announced approval of QAI's LPO program at the public meeting of the Mexican National Commission for Organic Production (CNPO) in Mexico City.

QAI can now certify organic food producers, traders, processors, manufacturers, distributors and retailers, providing them with a secure, dependable way to enter the organic supply chain serving Mexican consumers. QAI's Mexico office is an integrated service center offering, in partnership with its parent organization NSF International, many useful services to the food industry beyond organic certification. The services offered include training in the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and, separately, certification to Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards (GLOBAL G.A.P., Primus GFS, SQF, BRC, IFS and FSSC 22000).

QAI provides LPO certification not only to businesses inside Mexico, but also to businesses outside Mexico that want to market their products or services to growing Mexican markets. Did you know that, for example, in 2015 the USDA tracked $154 million in exports from the USA to Mexico, and that was just a partial tracking! For businesses that want to benefit from this strategic opportunity, QAI can help them to make it happen.
